FAQs
Why choose Palm Leaves over Bamboo or Paper?
Unlike bamboo, which requires harvesting living plants, or paper, which involves deforestation and heavy chemical processing, our plates are made from 100% naturally fallen leaves. No trees are ever cut down. We simply give a second life to what nature has already discarded, offering a texture and strength that paper simply cannot match.
Where do your leaves come from, and is the sourcing ethical?
Our leaves are sourced from sustainable Areca palm groves in South Asia. We work closely with local collectors and small-scale artisans, ensuring fair wages and safe working conditions. This partnership not only protects the environment but also supports the livelihoods of the rural communities that protect these forests.
What exactly does "Chemical-Free" mean in your process?
It means we use only water and heat. Many "eco-friendly" disposables use glues, resins, or plastic coatings (like PLA) to stay waterproof. Leaf & Life plates are steam-pressed into shape. This ensures that no toxins leach into your food, and no microplastics are left behind in the soil.
How does the "Composting" process work at home?
It’s as simple as returning the plate to the earth. You can toss our plates into your backyard compost bin, where they will naturally biodegrade within 60 to 90 days. Because they are raw plant matter, they break down into nutrient-rich mulch, completing a truly circular lifecycle.
What is the inspiration behind the name "Leaf & Life"?
It represents the sacred connection between the Leaf (the raw beauty of nature) and Life (the meaningful moments we share around the table). Our mission is to ensure that your celebration of life today doesn't compromise the life of our planet tomorrow.
